Closed-back design for strong passive isolation from outside noise and minimal sound leakage.
Soft, replaceable velour ear pads, comfortable headband padding and a robust spring-steel headband built to last; Germany-made longevity.
It is worth noting that each impedance version of the DT 770 PRO has different cables by way of types (straight/coiled) and length. All versions are supplied with a 6.35mm screw on adaptor jack.
DT 770 PRO 32-ohm: 1.6mtr straight cable
DT 770 PRO 80-ohm: 3mtr straight cable
DT 770 PRO 250-ohm: 3mtr coiled cable
Sound Characteristics
The DT 770 PRO is known for punchy, extended bass and crisp, analytical treble - a signature that's energetic rather than flat-neutral. The acoustic character of the DT 770 PRO remains distinctly beyerdynamic: extremely balanced reproduction in the upper mids and treble, excellent stereo imaging, and a spatial, finely resolved presentation.
Sound differences in terms of impedance, is that a thing?
OK let’s do a detailed deep dive into sound Vs impedance when it comes to DT 770 PRO impedance options. The 80-ohms version differs from the 32-ohm and 250-ohm versions in terms of sound.
The 80-ohm version of the DT 770 PRO has a two-part coil system and reacts somewhat more slowly, which causes a slight treble attenuation at approx. 6 kHz. This can be very pleasant for ears that are sensitive to high frequencies.
The DT 770 PRO versions with 32 and 250 ohms have a three-part coil system. This ensures a faster performance and reproduces the high frequencies more faithfully, which is why the treble sounds more present.
Ear cushions- The 32- and 250-ohm versions have the same sound signature but differ in the ear cushions. The DT 770 PRO in 32 ohms has ear cushions made of synthetic leather, which slightly amplify the bass and attenuate the treble in the presence range. The DT 770 PRO in 250 ohms (velour ear cushions) has a slightly finer resolution, which can only be perceived with a very fine ear.
If you have a low-power sound card, e.g. the internal sound card of a laptop or your smartphone, then you should opt for the DT 770 PRO with 32 ohms, as this produces the highest volume. Users with very powerful sound cards or amplifiers can select a higher impedance if required.
Benefits
Legendary isolation. The closed-back design blocks outside noise effectively, making it ideal for tracking vocals or instruments near open microphones.
Proven reliability. Decades of use in professional studios speak to its durability and consistency.
Tuneable to your setup. The multiple impedance options mean you can choose a variant optimized for your specific gear, from phones to dedicated studio amps.
Application Examples
Vocal and instrument tracking, where isolation prevents headphone bleed from reaching a live microphone.
Mix reference checks, especially the 250-ohm version, when paired with a quality headphone amplifier.
Broadcast and podcast studios, where the coiled cable and closed design suit a stationary desk setup.
Drummers and loud-instrument recording, where the 80-ohm version's extra headroom and punch are useful.
People that enjoy their favourite music in the way that the engineer perceived it in the production.
Gamers that seek detailed sound and most importantly need isolation, especially in noisy environments. The 32-ohm version with a 1.6mtr cable is well suited for this application.
