Measurement Microphones

Measurement microphones serve a fundamentally different purpose to every other microphone in a professional audio setup.
Where a recording or broadcast microphone is designed to flatter a source — to capture a vocal or instrument in a way that sounds good — a measurement microphone is designed to tell the truth. Its job is to capture sound exactly as it exists in a room, with a frequency response as flat and accurate as engineering allows, so that acoustic analysis software can produce a reliable picture of what is actually happening in the space. Room correction, speaker calibration, acoustic treatment assessment, system alignment in live venues and broadcast facilities — none of it is reliable without a microphone that measures accurately rather than sounds good.
